His most ambitious project to date, with Stop/Run Devane sought to bring together music, sound design, physics, sculpture, collaboration and The Unknown. Devane wanted to design a set of sound making objects using amplified strings, feedback processes and electronics, but not make the music himself. Far more interesting was the idea of inviting other composers to engage with the instruments and use them in whatever way they wished in compositions premiered at the Severed Head sound art and photography gallery in Dublin, December 2010.
Chosing a range of musicians he felt were up to the challenge, Ed worked solidly on the ensemble for 2 months. The recordings from the opening can be heard in the player to the right.
