Since 2004 when first asked to play a gig Ed has been developing ways to perform his music live. Having tried out many gear combinations he now uses a mixture of hardware effects, mixer, zither and Ableton Live software to realise this aim.
Devane believes live music has the potential to transport an audience to a unified state of consciousness not normally encountered in other contexts. Therefore he builds his sets to grab attention and keep it, forcing people to dance or leave. Ed has made a number of sets especially for particular gigs, ranging from full on techno, downtempo beats and atmospheres to minimalist ambient.
